To gather corporate, organizational and private donations from our friends of the Polynesian community in Utah. To deliver “Kōkua” to the families of Maui as a gift from the State of Utah in care of its Polynesian community.
“Kōkua” means “to help” in Hawaiian. Utah Polynesian Days will use this year's event to literally “Kōkua for Maui” and endeavor to raise cash donations for our Maui ohana.
The funds will be delivered to the Community Foundation of Hawaii, which is recommended by Hawaii’s Governor and actor Jason Momoa. CFH have established and operate the Maui Strong Fund on the ground in Maui.
Funds will also be allocated to families for immediate assistance as well as a transitional housing and shelter development and a workforce training center for displaced local workers.
Donations are made through the and will be allocated from there.
“Having spent many of my growing up years in Hawai’i, this awful tragedy stirs a deep sense of compassion in me for my fellow Hawaiians in Maui. As Attorney General of Utah, I’ve been honored to represent the Pacific Islander community as one of their own.
We’re so blessed to be in the great State of Utah because it is rooted in families and service. I’m proud to support the “Kōkua for Maui” mission and their efforts to bring relief to our Ohana in Maui.”
